Hi there
We are thinking of moving north to the harrogate are and have some young ones who will be in pp1 and form 3 next year. Wondering if I could get some opinions on the best schools up there. We are at an excellent school now where they have lots of beautiful outdoor space to play and the school sentiment is all about the children's experience, and growth mindset. I realise thats vague but any thoughts on the scene up there are much appreciated!

Thanks

Be aware that in Ripon and between there and Harrogate they are doing a TON of new house building atm.

Flagging this as it'll likely impact the amount of spaces on offer at the nice small primaries in the area (if you're looking at state schools)

Little, developers have to pay a levy towards the infrastructure required to serve these new developments. Its is part of the planning process. A levy to fund education, doctors, roads, transportation, etc., etc..

Some of the small primaries need more pupils, the one DD attended lost half its intake in three years and was threatened with closure.

OP the place to look at development proposals is Harrogate Borough Council's Draft Local Plan.

There are a number of housing developments planned across the district as a whole, dictated by central government to meet the national housing need. It is no different here than anywhere else in the UK in that sense.

If you want private, I know peop,e who have been very happy with Ashville (little while ago now, particularly pastoral side) and Harrogate Ladies (current pupils, all round)
