Summer Reading Challenge book recommendations

Hello,
My DS1 is 10 years old, and has just finished year 5. We usually do the Summer Reading Challenge at the library over the summer.

DS1 has some SN, but has an age appropriate reading ability. He hates reading. I have tried most of the usual suggestions for reluctant readers such as comic books, graphic novels, non-fiction books and every type of book I can lay my hands on in an attempt to find something that he finds accessible.

Does anyone have any suggestions for short books that are aimed at 10 year olds please? I am thinking that if they are at least short, then it will not take him as long to get through them. Even Diary of a Wimpy Kid went down like a lead balloon.

I do not want him to see his brothers completing the challenge while he does not because his confidence is already rock bottom. I also want to encourage him to keep reading over the summer.

Thank you

13 Storey Treehouse.
Tintin, or Asterix. The graphic novel versions.
The World's Worst Children (I think there are 3 of them now), by David Walliams.
A children's cookery book, and get him to make something in there.
Poetry books. Michael Rosen does a lot for children, as does Benjamin Zephaniah

The treehouse series recommended above is great. Also my son enjoyed the Bear Grylls Adventures books.

I requested the 13 Storey Treehouse from the library. Ds1 has actually read it. It looks like a proper book from the outside, but there are loads of pictures and hardly any words on most of the pages. Ds was able to motor through it.

Just wanted to say a big thank you to Leeds and Thesearmsofmine for a a brilliant recommendation that went down brilliantly. I have now requested the 26 Storey Treehouse from the library.

Nice update. DS loves the whole series. We used Goosebumps with him in Y5, maybe aimed at a little younger but not embarrassingly so. They are short and there is a twist at the end of each story, which he really enjoyed.

Tom Gates might be worth a try.
We were also told that e-books and audio books counted this year. Is there any possibility that he might be more inclined to read/listen these?

Thank you, I will try Goosebumps and Tom Gates too. He might like the idea of reading off a computer screen as it might seem less like proper reading. I am reluctant to use audio books as part of the challenge as I have inadvertently taught Ds to switch off and fall asleep whenever he is read to.

Thank you for all of the suggestions.

If he liked the treehouse books, Dav Pilkey's "Dogman" also went down very well here at that sort of reading stage.
