Unfairly denied a place. Does it matter now?

I didn't get a place at our local primary, which was our first choice, for reception entry. I put my child in the waiting list.

I later had an email saying the waiting list was being cleared, and to reapply if I still wanted to do be on it. I replied saying not to take me off the waiting list, and that the link supplied to reapply for the waiting list did not work. I clearly stated that I did not consent to being removed from the waiting list.

I complained to the ombudsman at the time, who upheld my complaint, but said that no further action would be taken as the local authority had promised not to do this again.

I have later found out that shortly after I was removed from the waiting list, without my consent, another child was offered a place. This was base don distance, and they lived further away. Therefore my child should have been offered this place.

Years on, my child finally got a place at the school, but I am now wondering whether it is worth highlighting that we were unfairly denied a place.

Not sure what could be gained from this? Clearly if I had known this previously, I would have had grounds for appeal.

The ßequence of events I assume as follows
Apply for Reception place.
No place offered at desired school.
Child enroll in a different school
Name placed on waiting list.
Name in 1st p,ace on list.
Name removed from list by LA
Email notification from LA sent to parent with broken link to reapply for waiting list.
Email notification from parent to LA pointing out broken link
Parent applies via paper form
Child back on waiting list, not in 1st place
Child finally gets a place in said school
Other parent tells OP her child did get a place as moved up waiting list

Yes this sequence is completely correct.

head because my child was removed from the list multiple times. They were removed again after the ombudsman complaint. Is that clear for you now?

It’s really not that confusing or difficult to understand
Explain it properly then instead of posting cryptic, disjointed half facts and patronisingly announcing it’s not difficult to understand!

soon to provide dates I would need to go through emails, which I don't have time to do right now. I also worry that giving exact dates would make this very identifiable, should I complain. Still unsure whether to do it. Not getting much advice regarding my initial question.

head I have, repeatedly, and answered all of your questions. Others have been able to understand it, I'm unsure why you cannot.

Why in the name of God would you expect your child to retain a place on the waiting list after joining the school? I thought she’d been there two years now?!

HeadintheiClouds · 20/07/2019 21:43

What others understand it? Grin. Shout out - anyone else care to put me out of my misery?!

hibbledibble · 20/07/2019 21:44

bangs head against wall

No, as I said, my child started the school recently! Two years ago, she was denied a place. I learnt this recently.

head look back at the thread and see the many posters who understood, and some who have even posted concise summaries. Read those.

“I thought she’d been there two years now?!”

Where on earth did you get this from? I’m starting to think you’re on the wind up. If not, I’m baffled as to why you’re so confused, particularly as OP has answered your frequent questions and you have been given clarification multiple times. So yes, it’s you.

MissChananderlerbong · 20/07/2019 21:54

Op don't waste your head space on this.
You're clearly very determined.. use this in a constructive way, you could start a novel, a business?! I'm not trying to be flippant but how many hours have you wasted on this that could be better spent?

hibbledibble · 20/07/2019 21:56

pass and miss thank you.

I've not spent hours on this I don't think, though I feel like I have spent a while answering questions here..

How come you didn’t appeal for a place? Especially after they broke the admissions code, surly that could have helped your case.

Seems pointless complaining now but if you feel you need to then just do it, it brings it back to their attention and they may learn something from it, but even if they don’t atleast you can put it behind you.
