KS1 Sats Scores 2019

Having just received a message from a friend with a daughter in a different school to my son, I’m now a bit Shock that they’ve actually given them the scaled score for the year 2 sats in the end of year school report.
I’ve had two previous children through the tests and I’ve never had any other report than working towards/achieving/exceeding given for these tests - is this a relatively new thing actually giving out the scores like they do in Year 6.....or does it differ school to school?
We get our school reports on Monday.....I really don’t want to have scaled scores in them!

Why not?

More for the reactions of the other parents tbh - there are some uber competitive ones, not that I get involved, but I feel for the kids

But it’s for your eyes only.
They won’t be broadcast.
So don’t you broadcast.
And if anyone asks - you say that you prefer to be discrete as you don’t feel it’s your place to broadcast your child’s scores
And then forget about it

I’m not bothered by for me, don’t get me wrong, I’ve had 10 years of the primary school playground dramas, can deal with them all Grin I suppose I’m just lamenting for the times when these exams were “hey, your kid is on track” or “good grief, they’re rocketing” - the latter just being for only a very few. My child won’t know because I won’t tell him, but you can bet your bottom dollar that the majority will be told in an attempt by the parents to find out if they’ve beaten others in the class Confused

We didn’t get them and DS is pestering for ‘what mark was it’. Think I’m going to have to be the parent who asks!

We don't give them out on reports. Some parents very occasionally ask for them, but its maybe 1 or 2 a year if that. We will give them if they really want them but with a very clear reminder than the end of year 'results' are not based on them alone, a far greater aspect of their mark is from class work.

I just hope that with the new head and a greater emphasis on sats we don’t get them at this age.

Im glad i asked for them.
No point sitting a test if you dont learn something from it. I learnt dc just passed maths. So probably need to do some work to catch up. Though i did have an idea of this already

We got them but also then got a full school report as normal which was far more relevant imo. To be honest, I don’t really understand the SATs results other than 100 is the average?

ConorMcGregorsChin · 13/07/2019 19:48

Just had report for my DD aged 7 who is just about to finish year 2 and did SATS recently. I only got the achieving / exceeding notes.
From what I understand, SATS are more about how the school is achieving. There has certainly been no pressure placed upon individuals.

Unfortunately all schools are different. Some are all about sats, and pressure is put on the kids at far too early an age. I see the difference between my eldest and youngest. The eldest didn’t have a clue what was going on, which I think is great. The youngest knew from early on in year 2 that he needed to work hard and do well in all tests they sat as the booklets were important. To him, booklets aren’t fun.
