Ofsted reports. When are they published?

We had an inspection 3 weeks ago. We've been given a letter about it but won't be given a copy of the report until the kids go back to school. But when is the report likely to be put on the website? Anyone know?

Ours for a pre-school went on after 2 or 3 weeks I think. That was this March.

twinsetandpearls · 26/07/2007 15:22

ours went live about 3 weeks after.

THe school I teach in was inspected about three and we are expecting ours to go online any day.

twinsetandpearls · 26/07/2007 15:26

Infact I have just checked ours in on now and we were inspected on the 5th and 6th of July.

OrmIrian · 26/07/2007 18:32

Thanks.

The letter implied that although there were lots of really good things about the school, there were also serious problems. Which we are a bit about as we've got nothing but praise for it and our DC's are very very happy there.

I'll keep an eye out.

what sort of serious problems?

If you are and your DC are happy I would not let it worry you too much.

chatee · 27/07/2007 08:43

my dc school was ofsted(ed) on 9th July and it's not on the website yet(tis all due to the 5 working days rule and when the head will have received the report to read.)and of course that was the last week of term so it might be september

OrmIrian · 27/07/2007 08:44

It was a bit vague - " there are many areasthat need to be developed to improve your child' learning". An interim head from the LEA is being brought in - but that is mainly because the real head has been on sick leave since January. And we are going to be inspected in another 6 months. Then termly. So it kind of suggests to me that there are problems

But the school is lovely - it really is. And my 2 are average or above average for SATs. So I want to ignore it. But I guess I'm insecure enough to worry a little.

That does sound a bit worrying to be honest, we had a rocky ride with OFSTED but got through.

OrmIrian · 27/07/2007 15:22

I know. It does doesn't it. I just want to see the report.

I spoke to Ofsted last week about this as our local school had their inspection a couple of weeks ago. The reports are sent to the school after 15 working days and then I think the school has to give copies to parents within 10 days although they should appear on the website immediately. However school holidays are not classed as working days so we will not get the report neither will it be on the website until September. If you go to the Ofsted website you can register to receive an email when your report is published. HTH.

If you're getting another inspection in 6 months looks like you're school is getting a Notice to Improve. Happened at my daughter's.

OrmIrian · 30/07/2007 10:46

Did it Tinker? What happened? What did it involve? Did you feel worried by it?

Sorry for the questions but TBH I feel totally shocked by it. We have always felt very happy with the school. Wondering what we're missing TBH

Hmm, well I felt the same really, what was I missing? Knew it wasn't the greatest school on teh world but my daughter is very happy, seems to be progressing well. Couldn't put my finger on what was so bad. I think if they get a 4 in a particular section then it can only get a 4 as a whole, regardless of teh rest of teh report. Her shool got bollocked for failing the higher and lower achievers ie concentrating on teh middle the get teh sats levels up, I guess. Some parents have panicked and I know at least one child moved to anoterh school (which is now our local school since we've moved since my daughter staretd) but I'm not sure. She's year 6 next year - she'd still be going to teh same secondary school if we moved her. Will see what next ofsted report says and then have a think. I think the report was bit harsh adn didn't really recognise teh school. But tehn I'm not a school gate mum so maybe I'm cluelessly ignorant.

The school is also in a period of transition - recently merged juniors and infants to become a primary and a new head who has been implementing new stategies. It did fine on behaviour of pupils and stuff so don't think class disruptions are a huge concern.

OrmIrian · 30/07/2007 12:43

I think I'll just have to wait for the report. My two have just above average SATs results which I'm OK with. The thing that bothers me a little is that DS#2 is due to start in Sept - a little unsettling to say the least.

OP posts:
Tinker · 30/07/2007 12:47

Yes, I'm maybe more relaxed about it since eldest has just one year left (and has above average results despite being "failed") and youngest won't be going there.
