We are thinking of sending our DD here from Y3 . She’s fairly bright , loves reading & history and also particularly enjoys sport and art neither of which are offered much at her current (state) school . I have only heard
positive things locally but just wondered if there are any current / past parents here with girls at the school ? We live fairly near the school but in a very average house, normal car , I work part time etc . Is it full of super rich types ? Will DD be the odd one out not going skiing at half term etc . Would really appreciate any insight . Many thanks.

Our original plan was to send her at 11 and supplement her extra curricular interests ourselves in primary but I find as she is getting older juggling after school activities and ferrying her to different places on my days off is getting harder to fit in with homework etc .

I didn't have a girl but know plenty of people whose children went to Bromley High, also know a teacher there. It's excellent and has pupils from all walks of life so don't think about that, you would be an average parent. I would certainly have considered Bromley High had I had a daughter. It is a Girls Day School Trust school and I went to aTrust school in Sydenham. It was 'Girls Public Day School Trust' (GPDST) in those days. I came from an ordinary background, never really thought about it.

Don't forget, Bromley has grammar schools. Newstead Woods is excellent. Something to think about when she gets to 11+.

Thank you for the quick response blue that’s just what I was hoping to hear . Yes we would probably see how she got on then re assess from 11 .

Our DD goes to another GDST school. 95% of parents are not Uber wealthy and in most cases both parents work and drive Skoda estates etc. So I wouldn't worry about not fitting in.
We moved DD in year 3 for academic reasons but the extra curricular activities are 100% improvement on our state school. Lots of sports, music and clubs.

Friends of ours looked at Bromley high junior but stuck with a state school. They are not keen on their catchment 2ndry Como and their child is not bright enough to get into the grammar school..

Thank you MrPickles yes the extra curricular activities on offer look wonderful. We’re registered for the taster day so will see how we get on .
