DS gave his maths teacher a card and a box of Thorntons (the kids vetoed a bottle of wine) and she gave him a hug . He wasn't sure whether to be happy or embarrased.

My son just gave his teacher a picture that he had drawn himself.

Its a balance between showing appreciation for your child's teacher and not being over the top.

My dd gave her main teacher a card she'd made and a new mug to drink her tea in (dd's idea!).

Some of the mums went so over the top I felt quite ashamed of our modest offering.

At the end of ds's reception he decided that he wanted to give his teacher and helper a present. He chose flowers (my usual choice for family). I think they were a bit taken aback! This year he had no interest in presents (apparently the biscuits he took in for the class party counted!). dd wanted to give her teacher (for the last two years) a picture of herself, so we bought a little frame to decorate. Unfortunately I lost it and then couldn't figure out how to print the photos from our new digital camera on photo sized paper, so the teacher has ended up with an A4 sized picture. I'm not sure what she will do with it!
