KS1 SATS-do parents get given their children’s scores?

DD has a ‘friend’ whose mother is unbelievably competitive about everything they do. I have zero interest in taking part in this. DD is so far pretty much unaware of the SATs as anything other than a standard classroom activity-they’ve done one paper so far and it was done very casually, so she wasn’t at all fussed. I’m very happy about this as I think they’re ridiculous anyway and don’t want her to be stressed about them. I’m personally more interested in her teacher’s assessment of how she’s doing anyway.

Do parents get given their children’s scores? I know this friend’s mother is going to want to compare. I don’t want to, and I also don’t particularly want DD being asked how she did by this friend. If it happens, I just won’t engage, and will encourage DD not to either, but I’m kind of hoping that the school just won’t tell us the results. Is that likely?

We didn't get given the scores. I actually asked for them (because I'm nosey and it's information about my child) and was told I couldn't have them.

School are including them in a sealed envelope with reports this year and it is your choice to open or not. Alongside this they will give the more sectioned results of Expected, above expected etc

Tomorrowillbeachicken · 18/05/2019 14:59

I want them as we need them for EHCP and to see how lack of provision is affecting our son.

I asked for them as i needed to see if they had caught up with maths.
Also im interested to see if they got marked down (ie did well on the paper but were only given met rather than exceeded etc.)
I was interested because schools are compared on the progress made from ks1 to ks2.

Helix - the scores won’t help you see if a child is ‘marked down’ as they test the expected standard. There is no score for ‘greater depth’. That comes from children’s work in class, evidence that they have met all the criteria for GD on the Teacher ASSessment Framework. A child can get a high score on the test but may still ‘only’ be awarded ‘expected’ (although that is a high standard in itself).

Year 6 teacher here. Yes, school do ha e a legal responsibility to convey the results to parents, but the results you are given will NOT be a score. You will be told:
Working towards
At expected
Working at greater depth

I was told at the end of year parents evening that she got meeting expectations or whatever they call it but no actual scores.

That's already been stated, ladypenelope, and more clearly : the reporting of the teacher assessments is statutory but reporting the test scores is not.

that's already been stated, ladypenelope, "and more clearly"
Well aren't you a charmer Feenie
