Are your daughters going back to school in summer uniform?

Since my dd is dyspraxic, summer dresses are easier for her. But I'm not sure if it's going to be too cold.

Yep. Lots of children here were in summer dresses before the holidays

MrsBlondie · 22/04/2019 22:49

Yes definitely.

ElektraLOL · 22/04/2019 23:02

Ok thank you :)

My dds have been back at school since last week and wore summer dresses. Plenty were wearing them before the hols! We tend to wear them from Easter hols til Oct half term. Just stick tights and a cardi on if it's a cool day.

Was in ASDA today and they had school summer playsuits which I thought was a great idea !! For the girls who just can’t stop doing cartwheels and handstands.

ElektraLOL · 22/04/2019 23:40

Yes I've seen the play suits - my daughter would like some. With zips they will be ok for her to manage

Mine have been in them since the last spate of hot weather - through their choice.

As a cautionary note from another one with a dyspraxic daughter - watch which dresses you get - some of them are quite slim cut and my daughter struggles with them - I tend to size up a bit to give her a bit more flailing limbs around in optimistic directions room. I avoid the play suits - the floors of the kids toilets are generally bogging and I don't fancy her trailing them around in there!

ha Hexagonal - I told my daughters the same about playsuits. we buy little black M&S shorts pants to wear under dresses like cycling shorts but shorter

ElektraLOL · 24/04/2019 07:19

Thing is, those shorts things are really hot when under a dress so I don't think that's very healthy.

Elektra - the ones I am talking about are just black short knickers - in the M&S underwear section.

ElektraLOL · 24/04/2019 21:02

Oh those ones - I just bought those for my teenage daughter :)

Yup, all summer uniform here. Their school won't allow any winter items after Easter.

moonrises · 25/04/2019 20:44

Summer uniform too here.

I have got her a playsuit, admittedly a bit on the smaller side but it is a little struggle for her to get it on, a lot more than her pinafore.

yoshismother · 25/04/2019 20:49

No Summer uniform at all. Last year my DD ruined about 5 dresses with whiteboard marker. Couldn't get it out for love nor money... So I won't be wasting my money.

ElektraLOL · 25/04/2019 21:33

Isn't she going to be hot Yoshi? You're right though those dresses are unforgiving of stains. Asda sell dresses for £4 each if you wanted a cheaper alternative.

Yes I'll probably cave if it gets really hot June/July, but the weather's not convincing me it's worth it at the moment! 😁

Clutterbugsmum · 25/04/2019 21:48

DD normally does but she in Yr 6 and I am not buying for just one year. She had the playsuit ones last year and they were fine.

As for white board pen stains on dress I've got them off by using fairy liquid and nail brush to scrub the mark.

And DS been in shorts since March, but he would wear them all year round if I didn't hide them come October.

nonicknameseemsavailable · 26/04/2019 22:52

My eldest refused summer dresses in year 5 and won't be changing her mind in year 6 either. It is a bit hot, especially with a tie on but to be honest the summer dresses look horrific on girls with women's figures
