OFSTED reports - we've just got ours

Am I alone in feeling disappointed that nothing merited a Grade 1 (outstanding). Most of it was Grade 2 (good) with a couple of Grade 3s (satisfactory), but blimey, I thought there might be something worthy of a Grade 1.

H says it's unusual to get a Grade 1 but I thought something might merit it, or am I being too wishful? Any thoughts appreciated.

Hi earlgrey, think you are ateacher not sure, am a Cm last ofsted I had, the inspector, told me that she had never given a outstanding and never would cos we could always improve!!! Then others I know who I wouldnt leave a child with had a different inspector and got one! I got a Good in everything, but was quite disappointed, as was my dfes inspector who felt it was wrong.

Shos, I'm not, just help out at school a couple of days a week. Do you think it depends on the inspector then? Surely they must have been trained to accept the same standards?

My dc ofsted report was terrible, the nursery is being closed and moved into the maib school, and 6 teachers are leaving as a result.

Blimey. Poor you. What was the main focus of their complaints?

no earlgrey they all sing from differnt hymn sheets in my experience, have alook on some of the CM threads about ofsted they never seem to say the same thing.

The nursery is currently in a bungalow at the bottom of the playground, that was condemned as too small and not at all secure, and most classes in yr 1 and 2 were not being taught correctly, these are the teachers leaving along with the nursery teacher.

If your school was on course for an Ofsted outstanding, you would already know about it. It would be the kind of school that everyone in the area raves about, the sort where houses in the catchment area are £100k higher than outside. That sort of school. Ofsted is far from perfect but at the extremes, I think its judgement is worth something.

My DD's school is Grade 1 in all categories, and I have seen Grade 1s here and there in other local schools we looked it.

Our school got grade 1 in everything and it was the least popular in the area about 4 years ago, so everyone was very pleased.

We have just been ofsteded (if that is a word!) and I can tell you, we have busted our ** and have still been given a Grade 3. Don't think you should be disappointed - they are very tough. I would be pleased that it is a Grade 2.

Our school has mostly good with a few outstandings. We have been dragging it up, year by year - it is much harder to go from good to outstanding than from satisfactory to good. There used to be a very good category as well, but that has been dropped. Our headteacher has his eye on the outstanding school classification and we are working really hard towards achieving it (I am a governor, not a teacher by the way) but it requires huge levels of effort from everybody and a real determination to look your weak spots in the eye and focus on improvement.

ofsted reports its all am looking at, at the mo my kids havent started school yet but wer trying to find the right school in the right area as we r also looking to move!
