Looking for 7 plus tutors for my daughter who is in year 1. We are in North London and we are targeting NLCS and Habbs. She is a bright girl and ahead of her class. I have read a few threads and Arlette and Miss Bloomfield seem like very popular tutors. Please can someone PM me their details? If I am too late in booking these tutors are there any others that are equally good- any personal recommendations? TIA

Hi everyone, thank you so much for sharing all this knowledge and your personal experiences. I would like to start tutoring my daughter, who is about to finish Reception in less than 2 months, for the 7+ exams. Could you please recommend someone and share their contacts? Thank youFlowers

KimchiLaLa · 31/05/2021 21:07

Can someone give me Arlette's number?

sparemonitor · 02/06/2021 09:16

@KimchiLaLa

Can someone give me Arlette's number?
I think she has retired. If not, she charges £80 per hour in a group of 4 which is what most charge for individual tuition and hand picks the kids most likely to get in anyway. Don't be taken in by her hype.

Sorry! I know this is a zombie but I can’t resist it, I clicked on this super tutors link and apparently he teaches in one of London’s top “pubic” schools!!!!
KimchiLaLa · 03/06/2021 18:13

This is who we've used for 7+ and 11+
www.mentorstudio.co.uk
Will tell you to wait if thinks child is not ready for 7+,8+.
If you PM, can send you Arlette's number. Think spoke to her years ago, and have someone by that name in my diary. Too far for us.

I used Tayberry.org.uk for 11plus. They have 100% passrate at 7 and 13plus over the last 3 years.
They work face to face and on line and fees are from £35ph but I know it is a lot more for face to face. They were very fun and motivated DS. He passed with approx 30lessons and DD starts in September.
If you quote my name Tara Melling, I get a free lesson and you do not pay the registration fee.

100% Pass rate is not what people are after, I think it’s getting into the top 2/3 schools where there is no guarantee….

Competition….if your DC books up with a tutor, it could mean someone else’s DC missing out. Same way people don’t give details on assessments etc.

Hello Caps0218,

how long before the assessments is metalrock tutoring stsrtingr? Is the tutor coming to your place and providing extra materials for the days in which there is no tutoring?

Away from the price, which sounds quite high, you should consider this.

The other tutors charge £70/80 ph, once a week, but parents must do the rest of the work.

No we won’t be using them silly money.….he’s at a pre-prep, but we will get a tutor at some point in year 1 just to give him the additional help and guidance.

mysoul · 23/12/2022 19:19

I agree with you, this amount of money is simply ridiculous.

Good luck with everything!

The price is ridiculous for 7+, considering children simply might not be mature yet to sit exams.
I would understand if it was for 11+.

It’s almost paying another set of school fees at that rate.

I think up to £100 an hour is reasonable.
