Can you be on waiting lists in two different Local Authorities?

Hi everyone, I could really do with some advice. My daughter is in Yr 1 at our 4th choice school which we're really not happy with. She's on the waiting list for a CofE school in our local borough in London, but we're having to move to another borough soon to stay with my parents whilst we have a year's worth of work done to our house. There is a brilliant school near their house and I was thinking of applying to this and waiting on the waiting list there to see, just on the very very small off chance that a place might become free. If it did, we would take it and probably move to the area as a result as it's so good. But my question is do the local authorities talk to each other, so we would automatically be taken off the list for the CofE one in our local area if we're on the waiting list somewhere else? Thanks for any advice on this...

It is my understanding that you can be on as many waiting lists in as many LAs as you like.

You can be on the waiting lists for as many schools as you like. Doesn’t matter if they are the same or different LA

wow that's better news than I was expecting, thank you!

Look very carefully at the admissions codes for your two boroughs. Some have very strict rules about address qualification when you still own a property that has been previously used as a home address. Don't see why this wouldn't hold for in-year transfers as much as main application time. As others have already said, you can be on both waiting lists but you can't use two different addresses for them.

Thanks Zinnia, yes I don't want to get into any trouble though. I guess the worst that can happen is that they reject my application on these grounds, but maybe worth a try.
