was v. pleased with all the usual blar-de-blah about how nice she is ... BUT... can anyone help me figure out these SATs?

AT1 English (speaking and listening) L 2 (and then a mysteryous "T" next to it
AT2 Reading 2a
AT3 writing including spelling and handwriting 2a
Comprehension test 3

And then ....

Comprehension test 3+ Grade A to C 2+ =3.

I think I'm an OK mum, but I've really lost the plot here. Any help appreciated!

T means teacher assessment - I think.
Level 2 is the standard they want all children to attain by the end of yr2, so Level 2s are fine.
Level 3 for comprehension is great.

I'm not sure about the last bit. Hope someone else will be along to help you.

PanicPants · 08/07/2007 19:34

2b is the national expectation, so a 2a is good. It's still within the average band, but it means just above average.

I would guess that the t would be the teacher assessment.

Pop in to see the teacher tomorrow.

popsycal · 08/07/2007 19:37

this bit:

Comprehension test 3+ Grade A to C 2+ =3.

I Think it is refering to the fact that at ks1, they don't sub divide a level 3 into c, b and a sub levels.

So if you get higher than a level 2 (hiogher than a 2a therefore) it is just a straight 3

popsycal · 08/07/2007 19:38

Also speaking and listening isn't 'tested' - it is teacher assessment only - so I would guess that the 't' is teacher assessment

earlgrey · 09/07/2007 05:26

So, is a 2c better than a 2a, or have I got it the wrong way round?

CB, dd2's going on a 3 day field trip today (sob), so I expect the last thing her teacher want will be quizzed on SATs. Otherwise I would.

2a is higher means they are beginning to get into level 3 (or 3c which is the entry point for level 3)

but even a genius who could read fluently with total understanding and write pages of a fantastic story with joined up writing could not get above a 3 in year 2

popsycal · 09/07/2007 09:46

c is lowest and a is highest.
So 2a means getting close to level 3 which is the next level up.

But level 3 is not sub divided at KS1. So you could be a 7 year old Charles Dickens and still get level 3.

lljkk · 09/07/2007 10:11

We were told that for a child to achieve Level 3 in anything was "very exceptional", so well done to your DC.

Waiting with baited breath for DS results....

EnidJane · 09/07/2007 10:14

i dont want to KNOW dd1s results

do they HAVE to tell me?

lljkk · 09/07/2007 10:19

They give them to the child in a sealed envelope. You could just throw the envelope in the bin if you don't want to know.

Teacher assessment can be higher - but the test/task papers cant
