We are in a dilemma now about my son primary school. My son started reception in September and doing well there, it's a good school and huge... st. Stephen's infant. Multicultural and children from different backgrounds. We moved to Kent just a month before he started school. So didn't get enough time to look other school around here. Last week a place been offered to him from blean primary, Ofsted ranking outstanding. Very academic we heard....and next to uni so, alot of academic peoples children go to blean, .. i have another boy as well who will go to school next year. In a tricky situation. I am just feeling.... what to do... does anyone know here both if the school... aibu

I'm assuming that English is not your first language and so maybe a more multicultural school would suit you?
If that's an incorrect assumption then apologies.

I'd suggest you put the school names or the area into your title so posters who might m ow them can spot them.

But as general advice... go and look round both schools. If one school has a more educated family intake then this will naturally mean their results are better (assume that's what you mean by more academic). Where have you applied for, for your 2nd child? What's the likelihood that they will end up n the same s hool?

We haven't applied for the 2nd one, as he will go next September. Siblings priority in both school. My hubby works in the uni so his colleagues children are split up in both school, but most are in outstanding one. Some are in the same school my son goes. Parents here ( my son school) dont like the outstanding one, as that one is academically pressurised. My son doesn't want yo move as well, he is settled and enjoying his school. We are in confusion because current school is great in infant but the junior is not so good because it mixed from various background. And sadly the outstanding one has more wealthier child and academic pressure, so the Kent test is good.

How many schools have you applied to? My piece of advice is to look at the school. Check out the website too. What are the exam results like? Do you live in the catchment area or not? What do other parents say about the school? Ask as many questions as you can. Meet with the head. Don’t visit on open day, it’s better to quietly visit on a normal school day.
Listen to the gossip about the school too. Shopkeepers are a good source of information. Read the OFSTED report but please look at the bigger picture here. Get as much information as you can find. If you can, obtain a school prospectus or curriculum booklets. Typically those are available on the website of the school. Trust your gut feeling about the school.
