School newsletter advice

I’ve offered to help with the school newsletter - basically cutting and pasting it into a nice format rather than just an email. But my IT skills aren’t great! Has anyone else done this? Can you recommend somewhere I can get a really easy to use, free templates that would work for emails and the website? Thank you.

Why would you offer to do something you don't know how to do? Surely it's the secretary's job anyway!
Offer to do something you are good at!

To learn a new skill?

Because I think it would be helpful and no one else wants to?

Because if I stuck to things I’m already brilliant at I’d be very short of options!!

Are you sending it out in the body of the email or as an attachment? If it’s the former, you could try using a programme like mail chimp. If it’s the latter, then you could have a look at the templates in Word and then turn it into a pdf before sending

Do they not have a template already? Packages like word and publisher have them but you may need to save as a pdf to put online or email.

Word has a template for it, you can search options for newsletters.

Thank you everyone. I’ll have a look at these :-)

I did this for a few years ... put everything into Word then sent to IT department for design/formatting.

Try mailchimp and then it will record who opens the email.

If you look at MSPublisher there are newsletter templates included in the package.

MailChimp. Or Canva. Or combo of two! Canva has lots of great free images.

Hi- good for you learning a new school and helping your skill. As others have said mail chimp (free) or campaign monitor (small monthly fee) are good email platform with lots of support and tutorials and templates you can use for inspiration. Ideally you want to add images and make it as pretty as possible so that people actually read it! I would never send a newsletter out in the body of an email or as a word attachment as it is so dreary for the people reading it, but then again parents will read anything about their children :-) so I’m sure whatever you choose to do will be a success! X

Meant to say helping your school! Sorry. Fat fingers
