Hi
I am new to an area having just sold our marital home I will be renting until I find my feet in my chosen area with my child . The LA admissions team want me to provide a tenancy agreement which is fine but my landlord will only provide a 6 months agreement open to be extended further despite pleading with him . I need to apply for my daughter to start Reception class this coming January , even if the LA admissions policy states evidence of address being 12 months tenancy agreement is there anything I can do ? I was thinking to offer the LA an updated TA once my current ones expires at 6 months to show my continuing residence . I just can’t afford the one or two properties for rent that offer min 12 months .

Any advice appreciated
Thanks

Just give them the 6 month AST with an explanation. You'll be registered for council tax and utility bills too so that should be plenty of evidence to show you're resident where you say you are. I think it's unreasonable for school admissions to demand a 12 month tenancy agreement. I own my home but there's nothing stoping me applying and then selling my home before the school cut off. You can always supply a further 6 month AST down the line and regulations permit places to be withdrawn if the parent is found to have applied fraudulently.
