My daughter has been offered a place here for Year 4 next term. We need to make a decision in the next two weeks. We really liked it but worried about the ratio of girls to boys. My daughter is fine with boys, but often finds them a bit unruly at her present school which annoys her because it disrupts her learning. I am also worried that the school seems able to offer a lot of last minute places citing Brexit as the reason. Is there another reason for children leaving? And does that mean that they are accepting children who have been 'asked to leave' other schools or children who have found it hard to fit in elsewhere? . Again, we really liked it (much more than I anticipated) at the look round - and the teachers seemed interesting and engaged. Any personal experience of the school? Do your boys and girls like it? Do you like it?
Any info gratefully received!

Most schools are never entirely full, there’s normally always a place or two available. Kids leave for various reasons, and in London people will probably be more transient with jobs anyway.

Where I work we are pretty much full, but in reality only one year group is totally full to capacity, so we can fit in joiners at non standard entry times if they would suit us as a school.

If you have a good feel for the school then go for it!

Doesn't that depend on how sought-after a school is? Presumably, they do not have anyone on the waiting list if they have an unfilled opening.

I used to think that but my DD went through seven years at a Hampstead prep and only two out of 40 left because their families moved away from London. Having asked about other years and other some other schools, I no longer think this is very unusual.

I tend to agree - Sarum Hall, St. Margarets, Highgate etc don't appear to have any occasional places. At King Alfred's there was a constant churn of children, which the management always put down to relocation or the Financial crash / Brexit.

Yes, I think there might be other reasons at King Alfred's........
