Good evening, we have been offered places to both school and are having a hard time to decide. Are there any parents from any of those schools that could give us some inside tips/ info? Thanks a lot

Interestingly we have offers from both schools too. The fact that faulkner goes to 11+ is a huge positive for me. One can try The 7+/8+ And still have continuity if The results aren't great and try again at 11. The lack of outside space in both is a negative. Faulkner seemed like it would be more nurturing too. May be someone with older kids will come along with more insight

EH also goes to 11 now :)

Ah yes - you are correct!

My son started in Sep at EH. He seems to be v happy there. His class teacher seems excellent. Comms with parents are very good - any issues get dealt with at light speed.

The head (new last year) is a tad odd - still can’t make out whether he’s the real thing or just says whatever the parents want to hear. But you see him around a lot and he is approachable.
They are extending the school into a prep school at a bad time in the economic cycle - not sure how that’s going to go in the short/medium term but at least it’s there in case of disaster at 7/8+.

It depends on how serious the parents are for 7/8+, the two schools have very different focus. Although Falkner claims they will support 7/8+ if they see the kid has potential, but reality is 7/8+ results is nowhere near EH. However EH prep is very new, and there is no exit result yet, if 7/8+ doesn't work out well, you don't know how well they can prepare 11+. But if you are entering reception, then in a couple of years, their first 11+ results will be posted.

I agree that Falkner is more nurturing, with a 11+ focus, boys are allowed more time to mature. EH would be suitable for early matured boys, who can be pushed to compete in London 7/8+ exams.

THanks for your answer wwwmummy. What do you mean by FH 7/8+ results is nowhere near EH, the first boys will sit assessment this year for 7+ so there is no historic right?

There were occasional cases boys sit for 7/8+, but historically it's not a strong point for the school. So the support for this exam is not exceptional. Of course there are many other external factors in 7/8+, expecially parents input at home.

Mmh I am not sure to understand. I thought this year their first year will be FH first year with a year 2 class? They also have a year 3 class this year that was filled with boys from other schools (Wetherby, EH, Fox and Redcliffe). So I thought no boy sat any exam yet and first year will be this year?
