Help - to change primary school or not!

Child is year 5, but the school is not good, very limited resources, low funding/ inactive PTA, minimal extra curricular, no trips or extras ,no real emphasis on manners or being polite/smart but child has lots of friends and is very very happy there. Should we move to another school that has excellent academic records, huge resources and rich extra curricular program including visitors to school, trips and great emphasis on manners, confidence building etc??

Help!!!!

What does your child think? Although sometimes, with schools like the second one, a lot more pressure is put on the children.

If your child is happy, making progress and enjoying learning I'd be inclined to stay put! They only have a year left anyway.

Have you just moved to this school? If not, why are these things suddenly an issue? You don't mention the teaching and how your daughter is progressing which are the most important things. As lot of the others you can supplement out of school.

Also, will the primary school attended affect secondary school applications?

My take on your email is that you believe the other school is better but actually the current school while it may not be as good is still a school that your child is happy in and getting on OK.
When they are in year 5, I would be tempted to not move, as you only have another year to go before they will be moving to secondary school anyway. You are also assuming that you will be able to get a place at the other school

thanks for your comments, yes child definitely wants to stay put!!! it's me that is worried that not changing is restricting child's learning and development. but I hear you that it's only another year and half to put up with this mediocrity, whilst keeping child happy and building our own rich extra curricular program? 🤔

I also think probably leave them at this stage. If they are unhappy/unsettled as a result of the move, that could hold their learning back more than the lack of extras at the current school. You can do your own extra curricular stuff.

I'd leave them where they are.
Can you something to improve the current school? Re-animate the PTA, encourage a few other parents to lobby the head to improve trips/extra-curricular. You could investigate external suppliers to run after school clubs - there are plenty of science/cookery/tennis companies that will run things on a pay per child basis. Have a look at the bigger school and see what they offer and then approach some of their providers.

thanks folks, yes I think will leave as is - really great idea to look at the other school and contact their providers ☺️
