Hi everyone,
We are looking to apply for primary schools in high barnet. We are quite near to Foulds school (below 0.3miles) .I know head teacher has recently changed in Foulds .Any body know how good the school is now?
We are keen on extra curricular activities (sports,music..)and looking for schools not just focused on reading and writing.
We are practising Christians .So have an option to put St.Catherine RC(not sure whether this is good) and Christ church as well.As we can put 5 other options ,can anyone recommend other good schools?

I have no idea about standards at Foulds but it appears to be a very happy school. Christ Church has good fields but I suspect less of a community feel. Being able to walk to school is a marvellous thing.

Foulds always had an excellent reputation though I hadn’t heard the highly respected head had left.. No idea how it is faring since. St Catherine’s is a brilliant school and has surpassed Sacred Heart Whetstone as the RC school of choice I think.
I knew parents of kids with children at Monken Hadley C of E school who spoke very highly of it indeed. You have a good choice to be honest. The Christian and Jewish provision is generally good but it’s a shame there aren’t more community schools for the non religious.

By the way, I have heard the above though friends and a relative in the Barnet area, so this is second hand information I'm afraid!

Foulds head has only been in place since start of academic year so difficult to say much about her. Parents with kids there who I know well haven’t said much either way about how it’s going so assume fine. Christ Church is smaller with a stronger and more cohesive community feel as lots of the families are also involved with the church. Lots of events arranged by v active friends committee (PTA). V impressive array of extra curricular activities - almost too many to choose from - and breakfast and after school clubs whereas there is currently no after school club at Foulds which causes a bit of a headache for some parents. Ch Ch head has been in place for about three years. Came from St Catherine’s and is generally regarded as excellent. St C and Monken Hadley did well in recent round of tests as did Ch Ch. Foulds didn’t do as well (google for details), I expect the new head will be looking to turn this around as they haven’t been ofstedded for ages and she won’t want to lose the outstanding rating. For St C you’d need to have been attending a Catholic Church - I’d imagine - to have a chance of getting a place. At Ch Ch you need to have attended church for either one or two years before applying unless you live near enough to get a foundation place (only 9 of these available in one year and chances are some will go to siblings, reducing the available number). Can’t speak for Monken Hadley - I have a feeling they might have ditched their church attendance requirement v recently. You’ll need to check school websites for specific info.
