how to consolidate topics in maths?

we are doing papers and now identified some mistakes - coordinates, calculations. my DS says, I know the topic, but still does simple mistakes. Would it be better to do some writing, drawing coordinates from scratch rather than answering questions? I mean some active way of learning (drawing coordinates) etc to sink information in? I just feel answering questions is not always makes information to sink in? What is the best when consolidating information / to make sure it sinks in? thank you

Is this for 11+? I don't know anything about that.

But as a parent and maths bod:

I would do active plotting of coordinates.
I would also look for patterns in the simple mistakes and point them out as something to be remembered or find a strategy to fix it.
Coordinates - do you know the saying 'along the corridor and up the stairs'?

Revisiting things regularly helps.

But some primary aged (and secondary) children just do make simple mistakes. if you are lucky they will be better by y11.
