Labelling socks?

Dc starts school this week for the first time so I'm in a labelling frenzy. Not sure if I'm supposed to label socks or not? I've got grey school ones. New to this so absolutely no idea!

I used to label socks then thought 'what's the worst that can happen?'

At my DCs' primary school, they never changed their socks for PE. They don't get sweaty feet at that age anyway.
But I did sew, yes sew, nametapes on to every grey uniform sock at the beginning. Totally unnecessary... but I'd just do that sort of thing whilst watching TV.
Now I just put name stickers ( try Stikins- they're fab, no ironing required and they stay put wash after wash) on their (secondary) PE socks because they're 8 quid a pair.
