DD was 4 in August.

She went to a preschool which was close to the school, the last half term of preschool she had one session a week in her soon to be reception class.

She started school in September, mornings only for 2 weeks, then stayed for lunch for the rest of the term and then full time after October.

No Home visits

Class size of 12 with a teacher and teachers assistant.

And she loves it, gained loads in confidence, best thing for her.

Sorry left this out... Spring born children do mornings only until January. Summer borns do mornings until Easter. They do stay for lunch & some playtime, pick up at 1pm.

DD1 was Autumn born and started full-time last year and was fine. DS1 starts school this September, he was 4 yesterday . If they didn't do mornings only, for at least 1 term, I'd be extremely concerned for him.

dd starts school in sept, had parents info evening couple of weeks ago. Rising 4's starts tomorrow...this is 1.5 hours every thurs pm for the next 6 weeks in what will be her new class and with her new teacher. In sept she will do 2 weeks of mornings only, then full time.

DD starts in September. She'll be 5 in November.

  • She gets a visit from the teacher at her nursery this week.
  • I accompany her into school one afternoon in July.
  • In Septmber the teacher visits us at home.
  • The following week DD goes into school alone for the morning.
  • The next day she starts full time!

We also had a parents information evening 2 weeks ago and there's an afternoon for the parents (mothers?) and children to get together organised by the PTA.

March-Aug birthdays do half days until January here. That seems to be a bit easier for parents and children than the neighbouring county which increases the hours graudally week by week until the children are fulltime by November.

It sounds like this school is very flexible where summer born children are concerned. If the child needs it, they can continue on half days past January.
