How many years above/below their chronological age is your dc's reading age?

I was wondering how much it is the norm to fluctuate?

Not sure.

In the summer term of reception ds1 was on year 2 reading books.

He's in year 1 now and he's on year 3 reading books.

He can read most of a newspaper and pretty much every sign he comes across.

No idea what his 'reading age' is though.

I can remember in primary school having a reading age of 16 but I can't remember what year I was in - late juniors I think.

I had a very high reading age as a child. All it means now is I have a tendancy to mispronounce big words whcih i have read but never heard said out loud IYKWIM! I am disappointingly thick in all other aspects.

I know ds1's reading age cos he was tested for dyslexia. Although he is dyslexci his reading age is average. Thankful for small mercies.(his writing and spelling ages are 3 years below)
TBH I don't care about ds2's reading age as I am so relieved he doesn't have dyslexia and doesn't struggle
