Dd started in reception last September. Now we are coming to the end of her reception year with sports day and prize day to look forward to.

It has gone so quickly. She adores her teacher but soon we will find out which class she will be in next year.

It's my dd's last half term at Primary school! It only seems yesterday that I was worrying about her starting in Reception and whether she's be able to manage whole days!

Budababe · 06/06/2007 06:28

Same here Califrau!

(Looking forward to it though!)

Same here Katelyle! Scary isn't it? I can still so clearly remember her starting primary in her too big uniform!! Now we're in to Secondary school territory! (Almost!) How does your DD feel about the big move? Mine is looking forward to it, she's going to a lovely grammar school with great facilities. Her last day at primary will be an emotional one though as she's loved it there. My DS2 will be moving up to the Juniors in September, and DS1 will be going into year 4. Where does the time go?

katelyle · 06/06/2007 12:27

My dd's going to grammar school too, MummyPenguin. She's excited and I think she's going to love it (fingers crossed) but it's such a big step! She'll be going on the train as well as it's quite a way, so she'll have to learn to manage tickets and timetables and all that sort of thng. And because of a mess up by her primary school, she'll miss the induction day because she'll be on a PGL trip. Actually, I think I'm more scared than she is!

This school year has flown by.

My Dd1 will be going into Yr5, Dd2 will be going up to Juniors and my baby will be starting reception

Yes another school year is over. Got my DS sports day next week providing weather ok. Also he has an assembly before the end of the school year too. Looking forward to seeing that as the whole of Key stage 1 is doing it.

Looking forward to September as DS will be going into year 3 and Key stage 2 (juniors) and my DD will be starting nursery at the same school. I am waiting for a letterfrom the school letting me know when I can take DD to have a llok around the nursery.

Gosh, katelyle, my DD must be quite lucky then, as her new school is not too far from home, but she'll still get the school bus, or a public bus if she wants to do an after school club or whatever. On Wednesday mornings she'll have to get herself to our local leisure centre for 8.30 a.m. for swimming (they will be transported back to school by bus arranged by school.) I'm starting to fret a little already at the thought of her doing bus trips on her own, and am making plans to familiarise her with routes etc. and do some 'dummy runs' in the holidays. How are you feeling about your DD going off on the train? Is she already used to going out and about on her own or with friends? Or will it be a new experience for her? Little bit scary, isn't it?

katelyle · 06/06/2007 19:39

MP - we live in the back of the beyond so she'd have to travel anyway, but she was adamant that she wanted to go to the all girls grammar in the next town but one. It's about a fourty minute journey, I suppose, as opposed to about 15 to the nearest school. Yes, we're going to do a some dummy runs including one actually at the time she'll be doing it for real (there's a convenient training day in a couple of Monday's time. She is quite used to going shopping ad things like that with friends, but she's never used public transport alone before. Waaaaaaaaa!

MummyPenguin · 06/06/2007 20:52

Good luck!! I'm sure our girls will be fine! We're probably more nervous than they are!!
