Anyone any comments about where to get this eg how well they wear/how comfortable/cost etc. Just to get us started. Thanks

Find M&S the best, a little more expensive but still not as expensive as school uniform shops but much better quality.
Their cotton jumpers last forever.

we got DSs trousers, polo shirts and pullover in Next.....again not as cheap as the supermarkets, but they do seem to be quite hard wearing.
Saying that though he has one pair of trousers from ASDA and they are fine ......and he does put them through A LOT of rough and tumble

Spagblog · 31/05/2007 08:35

John Lewis turned out to be the best and cheapest supplier of boys trousers!
Even better than Asda.
I was shocked and pleasantly surprised!

They also do Polo shirts for about £1

last year M&S had a 'three for two' on school uniform, which is worthing looking out for. Their stuff wears very well. Might be worth getting cheap shirts though as they can get stained with paint etc.

Thanks I've just been having a little look is it all teflon coated ?

M and S the best, and reasonable. I bought all mine in the 3 for 2. You do ahve to make sure everything is clearly named as at dd school all the girls had the M and S uniform so it was always going home on the wrong body.

Bought some cardigans from tesco that were very good.

Chopster · 31/05/2007 11:36

M&S is lovely quality but I find that mine are always getting stains down them so they need replacing anyway. I quite like adams, they often have 3 for 2 on. Tescos are terrible - cheap but they got really bobbled in the wash. George are a bit better.

ChippyMinton · 31/05/2007 11:39

DS trousers are teflon coated but i can't say they resemble the bottom of a frying pan in any way LOL

1dilemma · 31/05/2007 11:47

lol are they good for sliding across those polished floors lol (bet schools aren't alowed polished floors any more health and safety init)

i find BHS are best for trousers. the supermarket ones don't seem to last 5 mins.

If you need shirts, rather than polos, i've just got some nice ones from next and not too expensive. very good quality. I usually buy the school jumpers. I have bought some from matalan but they fade really badly after about 2 washes.

pe kit i would use asda or tesco

portonovo · 31/05/2007 12:36

M&S best for nearly everything. They have lovely 100% cotton shirts/blouses which wash and wear really well.

MrsWeasley · 31/05/2007 12:45

bought mt DS's great school trousers from Asda only £3-4.50 depending on size and the boys both grew out of them before they were worn out IFSWIM

seamonster · 31/05/2007 12:51

I go for next, but have found tescos and asda are fine as well. Don't bother with woolworths though. Do you need to buy special polo shirts and jumpers? That usually narrows things down a bit.

wheresthehamster · 31/05/2007 13:17

M & S definitely. Their girls trousers are the best. Also get polo tops from there.

I do have some supermarket stuff but it just looks older quicker all for a couple of pounds saving.

Clary · 01/06/2007 00:59

I also vote for M&S but I got some nice girlie polo shirts from Sainsbury's - NB they only had them in August.

M&S trousers for DS1 wore very well.

Skirts are tricky to fit (on my DD who is a skinny malink anyway) so worth taking child along to try
