How to find out which schools are good??

I can't seem to find any useful reviews of schools in the town near us we might move to. Don't really know anyone there to ask about local opinion, and can only find test results etc. online.

Does anyone know any good sites that tell you a bit more about it? Ds due to start in September, we are hoping to move before then...

Thanks

PFSTED
League tables
reputation
current/previous parent's thoughts
local press
visit to get own feelings/gut instinct

Use a combination as none on their own work that well. But more info you get better chances of getting the right one iIME.

Up My Street may link you to them . The Ofsted reports are online or may be on the school's website. Depends also on yoru definition of "good".

If he's due to start this September you may not have much choice anyway, as the application process will have closed, so ring the ones in the area and ask re: vacancies and get them to send a prospectus.
