Quick question? Breach of Data Submission

Just a quickie really..

My kids school went into special measures this time last year. Previously rated "outstanding" but OFSTED came in and put it into special measures...… haven't really heard much about what was happening apart from the had a head from another school coming in every so often to over see things and that a school improvement officer was appointed and also they were looking for a sponsor. my DS was in year two and seemed to be getting on ok academically so thought no panic. (this time last year he did lose a few class mates!!)

anyway, he comes out of school today with a letter saying that both the head and the deputy had been asked to take some time away from school ( we only have two days left of term) for reasons associated to a data submission.

The chair of governors was very tight lipped and said that they couldn't comment until a investigation had taken place. which will now be after the summer I presume. But me and some other mums wondered exactly what this was?????

its quite a small villagey school and the deputy has only been there 18months.....

Can mumnetters help?

Could be a number of things, SEN register, number of pupils on roll, moderated writing tests, pupil premium spending, pupil premium eligibility, safeguarding central record, DBS for staff...

That's just off the top of my head.

thanks, I have a feeling that it something to do with the KS1 stats. But then OFSTED did pull them up about pupil premium and whether it was being spent in the correct places.

I was just being curious, my DS is very happy and getting on well.... I just didn't want to make assumptions (which a lot of school mummies are doing )about the school before knowing the full facts

Does the school begin with C? There’s a story on the BBC website if it is.

Lottieloves · 19/07/2018 00:02

no, it doesn't. but now i'm interested in how other schools deal with it

My bet would be it is around KS2 test results and whether they have concerns that something has gone on that has inflated the results. The tone of the letter would suggest that and in the circumstances there is no possibility that the school, the governing board or the LA are going to say anything till the investigation is complete.

I thought the op said the BBC report wasn’t about her school. However the Chair cannot comment and prejudice any investigation. They gave told you what they can. The investigation may well take place from now on and in my view cannot be delayed until September. Although the outcome and information to parents may well be delayed.

I think the OP says her school doesn’t begin with a C so possibly isn’t the one in the BBC report. However, other schools in Surrey and Manchester are under investigation for Sats maladministration.

However, there are many data entry possibilities where returns could be falsified for the school to benefit financially as well
as in league tables.

The Chair couldn’t really tell parents anything concrete if investigations are ongoing. I’m not sure they will stop now they have started.

There’s another one in the news now...
Broadford Primary School has SATs results annulled www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-44917623
