When to move Ds?

My little boy is just four, and will start school in September at our local primary.

We are seriously considering moving to another town a few miles away, from where it would not be possible to bring him to school here.

My parents and I (who are all very closely involved in DS's life - no daddy present) are trying to work out when is the best time to move.

If we did it now, ie. within the next few months, he would be starting school at the same time as moving, also a new baby arriving any day now. So a lot to cope with.

But if he starts school here, and then we move him once he's integrated and has got settled - I mean, there's no easy option is there? Would it be better to wait for the infant/junior transition? Or do we take the plunge now? Or keep him at home for another year ? (doesn't bother me)

Any experience very gratefully listened to!!

Thanks

I would move before he starts school. Just my gut feeling, that would be less to deal with for him.

Thanks - that's what I reckon too. Just persuading my parents that we can do it within the next 3 months...I guess if it takes a bit longer he might be able to start a bit late?

We are facing the same considerations as DS is due to start reception in Sept and we are planning to move. We are currently doing up a house which we will move into so at least we had an address to find a school. Even if the house isn't ready in time I would prefer to put him in a school where he will stay for a number of years rather than move him early on and just put up with the commute for a month or two.
