Labelling school clothes...

Hoping someone can tell me the most effective way of labelling my DD new uniform ready for sept. Friends of mine use a stamp but it costs a bloody fortune!!! Can anyone recommend an inexpensive yet long lasting way to do this? Smile

I can't quite get away with the surname only thing with my kids' stuff... it's a surname that's also a fairly common first name!

Stickins I find awesome for things like water bottles, lunch boxes, pencil cases etc... we have some sandwich boxes that are onto about year number 5 going through the dishwasher and the name labels are still stuck solid and as legible as ever.

Never found iron in labels that actually stay put, and I need basically a flashing homing beacon on dyspraxic DD2's clothing to get her to spot it belongs to her - so I've got her trained to look in certain places for sew in labels (I even have name tapes that say "back" to help her get her other clothes on the right way around)

Where am I going wrong with stamptastic?! I'm about to order my third ink pad - DDs are only 9 and 6?

I have labels from stuckonyou.com really happy with them.

Are you putting the ink pad back into the sealed pouch, @Ktay?

The labels from mynametag.com are bomb proof.

Iron on ones will never come off, even the stick in ones will survive a few washes and will go through the dishwasher on tubs etc.

Still have labels on things from reception and DD is 11

Sew in woven labels. The sticky ones either fade or peel off. You don't need to sew them in like it's a seam or something, with lots if stitches. It's a pain at first but you get faster and better at not overdoing it.

@Acopyofacopy yes but on reflection not sealing it very well 😬 perhaps that's it!

I'm sadly an expert on this. I have tried everything (apart from the sew in labels because life's too short), and the only thing that doesn't fade or drop off in the tumble dryer is Stamptastic.

Highly recommended - and my top tip is to get one with just your surname on (providing it's distinctive enough), then you can use the same stamp for all your children.
