Dragon school or St. John's college school?

Hello mums! I have 2 kids, 8YO and 6YO. They both got places at the Dragon school , Oxford and at St. John's in Cambridge. We liked both schools during our UK visit but which one to choose???? We know that Dragon is bigger, a brand name among prep schools, with excellent facilities... but we are afraid that the kids might be "lost in the crowd" meaning, less attention from the teachers. On the other hand, St. John's, smaller in size with good facilities, academically thriving but ... is it that good to just let go of the "Dragon golden ticket"? Any experience would be very much appreciated!

No personal experience either school but if there is a chance you may wish to join your husband in the future and leave the children boarding in the UK Dragon has experience with international full boarders. Friends used it for this reason

OP you have another very similar thread running that I and many others have commented on, but you haven't been responding. Not sure why you have started another thread. If you are unsure which school to choose, surely you need to think about where you would like to live apart from school. Prep schoolis only a few years in your life.
Please go back to your other thread and respond to the advice offered.
Thanks

I see you responded once, but the point people are making is that though you say your decision is really about the school that is only 1 aspect of family life. If you really can't decide between the 2 schools, then other aspects become more important. Try not to decide on the school in isolation.

If you do a search there are quite a few threads on both schools

Thank you for your replies. It will be our first time living in the UK but in any case, I am looking for a place that is family friendly, with cultural life, things to do with the kids during weekends (although I know that Dragon keeps the kids busy on most Saturdays). We are planning to rent a place, preferably close to the school ie like a 2 bedroom apartment. Oxford rent rates are higher than in Cambridge. Is the cost of living in Oxford substantially higher than in Cambridge? We are not planning having the kids boarding but of course you never know.

Ah - I see you now have 3 threads running! Maybe ask MNHQ to take two of them down and concentrate on the one where you've had a lot of helpful replies.
