Can anyone please explain to me what this is when a child is placed on/in it? Thanks.

Hello. As with many things in Scottish education, each council does things slightly different. AFAIK the Dyslexia toolkit and pathway should be nationwide. This is very recent so it may not have reached everywhere.

A child is placed on the pathway after their class teacher has indicated concerns. IME this would not just be the class teacher on their own, but quite a lengthy process with a senior teacher overseeing things too.

It is NOT a diagnosis and a diagnosis of dyslexia is a long way away from the beginning of the pathway. It should hopefully help your little one get the support they need.

Is that what you were looking for? Anything else you want to know? The website I linked to is very good.

This has been as a result of cOncerns by his teacher plus the head and the additional support teacher. He is fairly late though. Going into primary 7 after the holidays. Seems others have been placed on pathway much sooner. My worry is high school is in a year.

I don't think that's very late. There's still a good amount of time in P6 left plus P7. Wherever he reaches on the pathway should transfer over to secondary with him. You won't be starting afresh once he reaches S1 and with a supportive HT who can ensure transition is done properly, you can hopefully get in-class support ready too.
