Hi , just looking for a bit of advice . We have recently had our parents evening , my ds in autumn born and in year one . My sons teacher gave us predicted outcomes for reading , writing and maths . He got greater depth for reading and expected plus for writing and maths . We are very pleased with him as he has worked hard ! The teacher said he is very close to achieving greater depth for the other subjects which is why he has been given an expected plus . I don't want to push him to much but it seems a shame to not do a little bit with him so he is stretched . Does anyone know of any games /apps that are good ?

It really depends on what your child's school have decided equates to greater depth (there isn't a national expectation for Y1 just for the end of the Key stage )

So.
He is doing very well.
He has worked very hard.

What makes you think he's not being stretched already?

Do extra stuff if you want to and he enjoys it. But that advice would be the same whether he was mega-execeeding-y5-level-already or simply average.

Don't do extra purely so you can boast he is working at 'greater depth' in everything.

For maths, there are many games and apps, so if he has weakness, work on that skill. You may get more specific names for that if you state his targets to improve.

For writing, I think regular practice is the key for his target. Is it spelling/grammar/punctuation/creativity/length, etc.

Teatimes - the teacher gave him a target card so we can reach that level . It's really not to boast , the teacher recommended we stretch him a little ..at the moment we only do his homework so I am only looking for some extra fun apps to do . His targets for maths are missing number problems ( for example ) she said his adding /subtracting ok.
Thanks for your comments

Have a look at this one for maths. It tells you difference between mastery and greater depth.

This one has a lot of mastery quiz on maths for each year groups. You need to sign up to use it, but it's free.
