Ipads/Technology Usage in School

Hi,
I am a student and I need some help with one of my research modules at university.
What are your opinions on your children using ipads in school to learn, rather than doing hands on activities and tactile learning. What do you think could be more effective ways of learning, such as games, outdoor learning or using a mixture of technology and hands on learning away from technology.

As a student, you need to not ask leading questions.

iPads are very much "hands on activity" - considerably more so than singing or chanting or discussion, or ...

Technology can be useful and has its place

Videos / presentation - kids can make their own videos showing they understand a task or character building
Lots of kids are visual or hearing learners

What would help is a one stop shop for apps that are school approved

Such as

Pic collage
ClaroPDF
Oxford owl
Music makers

All either full purchase with no in app purchases

There needs to be hands in for them moving climbing stretching to build core strength and finger mussels

Room for both

What are your opinions on your children using ipads in school to learn

  • they can be extremely beneficial and a huge aid to teaching and learning, when used effectively, just like may other 'tools of the trade'

rather than doing hands on activities and tactile learning

Tablets and other technology, including computers, robotic toys, control and coddle technology, cameras and AV recorders, etc. are very much HANDS ON activities and pretty tactile too, by their very nature.

What do you think could be more effective ways of learning, such as games, outdoor learning or using a mixture of technology and hands on learning away from technology

Not sure what you mean??? There is no ONE way to teach and to learn, for anyone. We need a variety of activities and learning experiences for effective education.

Agree with PP that your questions should be neutral. It’s clear from your OP that you prefer non-ipad based learning. That bias will influence the replies you get.
