Just wondering what reading band your year 2 children are all on? My dd is coming home with lime books since moving from white, but I’m sure with dd1 we jumped from white to free reading in year 2. These books seem so blinking tedious!

Thanks, mrz, I had a look, and they seem to have secondary resources, but not free, cost over £6000(!) for first year, but they also say it's non profit org. Bit confused.

No that's to buy a whole school scheme. There are plenty of free resources https://www.tes.com/resources/search/?authorId=3772766

It doesn't look like extension experience has been that great then. I think we are going to have to raise it now. Her teacher is great but given that there are additional classes for those children needing extra support to get to the expected level (which I totally agree with and support) I don't see the difficulty in giving DD something that actually challenges her, even if it's just a print off from the nrich site etc.

Catkind, we have a similar issue, DD will just write down the answer but no workings. Irvine, I do Singapore maths with DD and there are a lot of word problems in the textbook that use the bar method, but could easily be solved using algebra too.

Tbh Ds has been writing comments under the maths work that he has found too easy. He has spent the Christmas holidays teaching himself his times tables.
Both DH and I were academically able in maths in school.... when he finished work he caused low level disruption whereas I retreated into myself.

Tbh I may well go bk to senco and ask if the option of moving him up a year for maths is on the table.
Tbh when I last spoke to her I was given three options; differentiation, subject acceleration in maths, phonics (already happening) and reading or him going up a year for all subjects.
