Learning partners

My DD is in year 1 and has came home today to say she has been moved to a different table for one of her lessons and also doesn’t have a learning partner anymore but that everyone else still has one?
I’m confused as to why this might be?
In reception we were told at what stage they were working at and if they were progressing well or not but so far in year one we haven’t been told anything.
Could anyone maybe shed some light on this please?

I don't think anyone can answer your question. You really need to ask her teacher.

There are lots of reasons for both moving tables and not having a "learning partner". For the latter I would guess that there's an odd number and she was the "odd one out" so either worked on her own (perhaps the teacher knew she'd be able to) or as a trio (which to a Y1 is definitely not the same!). Maybe she does have a learning partner but they were off?

As for moving tables for some lessons, I sometimes move children around so for example a reading group can sit together or some children can work on a maths problem together or be supported together. This might change depending on the topic covered (so not for EVERY maths lesson but when we're doing time I know these children will need extra help (even if some of them are very independent with adding). It might be a one off to swop a child so they can share a reading book as someone had forgotten theirs (less of an issue in Y1).

It might also be a behavioral thing. Teacher needed to move some children so X would stop chatting with/poking/upsetting Y. Your child may be X, Y or the child who they were swapped with.
