summer-born children

Children born in August, July or June, are nearly 1 year younger than autumn-born children in their class. There is evidence that they lag behind the older children not only academically, but also in sport, and are more likely to be diagnosed ADHD or to be excluded from school. Any parents of summer-born children who have encountered problems because of this? I believe that the authorities are not dealing with it at all.

Yes it's anonymous but we have a tiny school so it's not hard to work out.
Anyhow the point is birth month is a minor factor (ime).

It is anonymous, I've worked for a schools for years and seen stats and even know some years might have various needs but never hear a kids name. They're broken down sometimes into boy/girl/summer born/ pupil premium because Ofsted want them to help various groups that need it, but they're never looking at the progress of one child although they might mention (I.e one child needs ks2 work because they're advanced or vice versa) but that's in a school of 30 per year, if it's 120 a year they probably dont even have time for that!

Governor here - we never see individual results. We see anonymised cohort data, as well as data broken down by sex and vulnerable groups.
