Advice on mid term change of school

We have had a difficult few weeks and have decided to change our DD's primary school. We received word today that our dd has place at new school. We have not told her yet as we wanted official confirmation before doing so (she's 7)
A few Qs: how to prepare a child for a move like this - how do we best prepare her and make sure this goes as smoothly as possible for her?
What do we do about when to move? I got the impression the ball is in our court about this. We can move her as soon as we want, she could go Monday if this is what we decide. There is a holiday coming up in October, are we best to move her after a "natural" break instead?
What can we request? Our dd is very sociable- should we ask for the school to identify a buddy for her in class?
thanks in advance

Personally I would just get on with it if you are moving school. Take her round it on monday, take her back to her own school to say good bye to her teacher and friends and then start the new school Tuesday. Then half term can be a rest so she can re charge her batteries from learning new routines.
I think asking the school for a buddy to help her at playtime and in the dinner hall in particular is a good idea.

Thanks. Think you're right about using hols to recharge...

Just saw your reply, Miaow. Thanks, think we're moving pre-hols
