...I don't mind paying if they're good, but don't want to pay for any old shite. free ones better obv.

But anyway, dd is 5 next month and so far knows the letters a, s, z, and with prompting knows m, p, i, e, n d and g. She is just starting to sound out words, but still needs help. It's taken me 6 months to get this far, and according to the national curriculum website, most children can read 40 words by the end of this year. I suspect she'll be a bit behind when she starts in yr 1 next year but want to try and help her catch up.

so any letter or v simple word based worksheets - anyone know of any? we have the letts ks1 english book but 90% of it is way too hard.

Why not try the Jolly phonics books and worksheets? you can get them on line or at most books sellers, or even ELC.....what system to they use at the school she will be going to? I know ours start with jolly phonics and move onto jolly grammar and stuff.....hth

I want something I can get instantly so I can use them this week though. (live in spain so book order will take a week).

I have the jolly phonics booklet, but dd isn't taking to it terribly well. We're using a micture of jolly phonics, writing practice and things like "circle the Gs in red" exercises, which is the only part she seems to like. they do a lot of circling things at school.

also don't know what school she'll be going to yet, so don't know the system.

Right, i see. Do you know which school she is going to when you return? If so can you contact them? They may have a preferred script for writing (ours do), but also be able to point you in the right direction...Our school were inisistent on the phonics based learnning, although we do sight learn too....I am sure there are some people who can help a lot more than me...Good luck
