I am looking for a Experience Tutor for my 3 and 5 years old daughters. We are currently seeking to get a place on St Helens school in Northwood for next Sep. We live in Rickmansworth and i am looking for 2 or 3 days a week, and ill work with them the rest of the week.

You won't want to hear this, but if you need to tutor your 3&5yos for 2 or 3 days a week to get into a school, then surely it's the wrong school?

Tutoring babies? What do they need to know that you can't teach them yourself?

Enidblyton1 · 04/09/2017 19:09

I know two children who started at St Helens last year. They didn't have tutoring and I think it would be a waste of you time/money.

Crammer for the grammar?

Recipe for a miserable child right there.😔

I am never one to comment on people wanting a tutor but 2 or 3 days a week for a 3 and 5 year old? Thats crazy!

SuburbanRhonda · 05/09/2017 00:22

Really?

Hmm

Mumteacher on here does that and she's local to St Helens. Pm her.

Please don't. Thats it really, please don't. If your four year old is not the right'fit' then all the tutoring in the world will make her the right 'fit' and you will have a very unhappy child.

think of tutoring for a school place like buying a new pair of shoes, some times they need a little tiny stretch and they are fine, but if they are completely the wrong size then they will never fit, never be comfortable, be agonisingly painful to have to wear everyday and cause your feet untold damage.

There's nothing wrong with getting a few pointers from someone who has experience of the process in the form of "tutoring". It's not the forcing toddlers to sit down and study with books for hours that some people imagine. More like helping your child to recognise their name (might be easy for them to pick out "Emma" when placed next to "Billie" or "Cassandra" but when placed next to 20 other names all starting with "Em" or "En" e.g. Emily, Emilia, Emmy, Enid, etc, it can be a lot harder for a young child but you wouldn't know to prepare them in this way unless you had some help).

However the amount of tutoring suggested sounds excessive - most good tutors would tell you that for free.
