school trousers for skinny, tall 4 year ols

I'm really struggling to find school trousers that fit DS.

We got the 4 year old ones from Sainsburys that are half-elasticated with adjustable waist band inside and they're still pretty roomy on him, and only just the right length so will be too short very soon. The 5 year old size were absolutely swimming on him. You could pretty much fit two of him in the trousers.

The School uniform people do full elasticated waistband trousers but they're 7 pounds each! Anywhere else do them? I can't find them. Or any other recommendations for trousers that work well and very slim-hipped, tall boys?

H&M seem to cut for tall skinny kids.

Thanks. I'll check them out.

It's hard because there's nowhere to go in Central London to try them on really. There are no large supermarkets with clothes near us.

Age 4-5 slim fit trousers from m&s are very long on my average height 5 year old and they have the adjustable elastic button thing at the waist.

M&S were relatively slim fit even in standard sizes compared to supermarkets; and adjustable waist so you could get away with a lot. We've had next slim fit trous too, though not in school trousers as they don't do cotton ones.

My ds is very thin and has long legs. I had to fix waste size myself to fit him.
7 pound for a trouser that fits doesn't sound so bad. If you buy one slightly longer and adjust the length, it will last for couple years.

CMOTDibbler · 20/08/2017 20:30

M&S do an extra long, so you can get the 3-4 in Xlong which should work. But they only do them online

Pancakeflipper · 20/08/2017 20:33

Another M&S. We would buy younger age for a smaller waist and get the extra long for the length.

M and S slim fit, slim leg are the only school trousers which fit underweight ds

neversleepagain · 20/08/2017 21:23

My dtwin girls are 4, they are skinny but very tall (114cm). Next do slim fit elasticated waist trousers. I had to go for age 7 to get the right length but the waist fits too.

I always found Next the best for tall, skinny children

M&S fan here!

My YR going into Y1 boy (121cm tall) is tall and skinny. M&S trousers have lasted him all year - even skidding along floors during his reception play and have various fits. Even the skinny fit have adjustable waistbands and my skinny DS needs them pulling in 5 button holes still.

I like the quality too. A lot of my friends say they buy cheap at tesco etc and then throw away when stained due to being so cheap to buy. I bought 3 pairs of polo t shirts from M&S for about £11. When stained, I put in a bowl of vanish, a liquid tab and leave to soak before washing as normal. Always comes out. My £11 lasted all year compared to friends who go to tesco 5 times a year to buy their t'shirts. And they keep their shape, colour and never shrink.

M&S slim leg for my skinny boy

Fandabidozy · 22/08/2017 21:34

Tesco slim fit are the only ones that fit my DS properly, we've tried M&S, Asda and Next over the years then we finally found those.

They are also the only ones with indestructible knee patches and last a full year of skidding and football tackles! He's been wearing them since P3 and he's now P7!

Fandabidozy · 22/08/2017 21:36

I also buy M&S skinny fit polo's for him and they are superior to others as they are softer, keep their shape and colour (he changed schools so we've had white and blue) and the fit is much better than standard ones which just look boxy and hang on him.

MarmaladeAtkinsX · 22/08/2017 21:43

Asda slim fit or skinny (can't remember what they are called) were great but sell out quickly. Trying M&s skinny this year. DS has small waist and long legs. I've found anything not specifically cut slim or skinny billow on him.

You can order all supermarket clothes online and they're pretty easy to return too if you try more than one size.

Finola1step · 22/08/2017 21:45

Another vote for M&S slim fit, adjustable waist.

Decoratingsucks · 23/08/2017 06:56

Next jean fit. M&S skinny fit were still too baggy for my DS.
