Hi. Hoping somebody will be along in a minute as there are several experts on here who helped me in my recent secondary appeal.

I recently used my MP but their aide admitted there was not much they could do.

Can you share the background OP?

You're a little late in the year for it to be a reception entry appeal. Is this an in year admission appeal?

Siblingstogether · 03/08/2017 20:53

Yes it's an in year appeal we have moved to area, secured a place for y4 but not for youngest to start at reception this September. School offered is in the opposite direction. Both catholic schools under the same Diocese both children are baptised.

Support from your MP will not help you at appeal. The appeal panel will ignore it. Most MPs know very little about admission appeals so I wouldn't turn to them for advice either. However, if you give more information about your case you will get good advice on Mumsnet.

By the way, on the small amount of information you have posted, you may well have a better chance of getting your Y4 child into the same school as your youngest child. A Reception appeal may well be an infant class size case which means you are unlikely to succeed.

Do you take Admission up on their offer of help on your other thread?

Infant class size appeals are very hard to win, especially for an in-year request, as they rely on the admissions authority having made a mistake or the criteria being illegal, and these issues having cost you a place which, if the class is full, isn't going to have happened. (Unless there just happened to be a space free and it was given to someone else by mistake)

Wanting to keep siblings together, or wanting a catholic education, are not going to win an infant class size case. Neither is getting your MP involved.( I sit on appeals panels, as do several others here).
