Progressive primary school in and around Bristol

Hi, can anyone suggest any primary schools with a more progressive approach in and around Bristol and the south west? (I'm already aware of the Steiner schools but they are so over-subscribed and I don't think their method is quite right for us.)
We didn't get any of our three choices in the 2nd round of admissions & I'm very disillusioned with the 'corporate' approach championed by the academy which we have been allocated - over emphasis on reading/writing, no green space & long hours 😬

Sidcot. It's a quaker school (independent)
Torwood house has a nice atmosphere (also independent)

I'm surprised there's a primary where hours are long. You could try any of tge village schools outside Bristol they at least have green space

May be too far north for you, but how about Wynstones, south of Gloucester? Or Edward Jenner School in Central Gloucester? Both independent. Best of luck with the search.

Thanks both. Sidcot had been on my radar but will check out the others. They all seem so big though!

Torwood isn't big.

My children go to a primary with over 700 pupils and love it. Size can bring opportunities that aren't available to very small schools because inviting theatre companies, musicians, scientists etc may not be financially viable or artists, authors etc may not consider it worth visiting. Also lots of scope to find your niche, wider range of extra curricular, specialist teaching staff for different subjects etc.
So large schools aren't necessarily bad. If you want to form an orchestra or a chess league or a fencing team it can be tricky in a tiny school.

What size school are you looking for?
