I think its main USP is the provision of wraparound childcare. If that's not your main concern, there are other more established schools around. We live v. close to Rosemary Works, and I did know someone whose child was there, but she pulled him out after Y2 or so. There are good state schools around the N1 area too.

If we were going to go private, I'd be probably be looking at a larger, more established school to make it worth the enormous amount of money you'd be shelling out. Also depends where you want your child to end up for secondary not sure where RW's children go. But beware a while ago there was a thread containing some rather critical comments on RW nursery, and there was a bit of a backlash from one or two parents and possibly the nursery itself.

if you're near rosemary works then have a look at dallington, lyceum and state schools too (william tynedale, cannonbury, prior weston...). where exactly are you and what are you after??

frogs · 27/03/2007 22:21

Cf, didn't know you were near us! Was it you planning to join us at Yumyum last night?

Yes, chattea, the schools controlfreaky mentions are the ones I'd be thinking of too, if I were planning to go private. All very different from each other, though. Or St Paul's if you're after the trad prep school experience. Hanover is another popular state school in the area.

hi frogs! am in n1 (angel)
was indeed planning to come last night but forgot all about it.... til i saw thread in active convos saying what a good time you all had ..... next time.....where are you??

frogs · 27/03/2007 22:27

N1 too, but the slightly less salubrious end. Near RW in fact.

Oh yes, we had a good time. In fact, we were almost accused of being a clique, surely the height of MN fame. But Posey came for the 1st time and claimed not to have felt left out, so we must be a very inclusive clique.

controlfreakyfluffybunny · 27/03/2007 22:29

am even more determined to come next time....!

Good. New recruits always welcomed.

Evening had a slight sting in the tail for me, as I managed to lose my mobile and was convinced someone had nicked it in the restaurant. It was eventually tracked down to hoxtonchick's car, where it must have fallen out of my bag on the way home.

Thank you - just feeling a bit desperate at the moment and exploring all options

Frogs - who said you were a clique? Not me! Open arms would be how I describe you lot. Come next time Controlfreaky, they're a nice bunch!

I see the Gower school is opening a branch in N1 too. I know nothing about the school end, but have quite a few friends who adore the nursery section.

Posey · 28/03/2007 20:36

Isn't the Gower School on Market Road or North Road? I've heard lots of good things, but all people I've spoken to have children for whom standard mainstream schools would be (they feel) inappropriate.
