Do I say something?

DS in his first year of school, seems to have been going well, no major issues. Each week the teacher gives a "star pupil" award on a friday, today was the last friday and therefore the last opportunity for DS to "get his turn" and yet again nothing. I know its not a real award as such but I was under the impression that everyone had a turn and I just feel so sad for DS. Do I say anything to the teacher next week to ask if there was a reason or do I just keep quiet?

OP, I'm a year 1 teacher and I'd be absolutely mortified to realise I'd missed out a child. If there's still time, say something (but make sure your ds doesn't hear you, so that they don't think that it was just because you made a fuss).

You're not being 'that parent' at all.

Yes absolutely talk to the teacher. I am a teacher and we always make sure every child gets the award at least once. I imagine it is an oversight.

To those posters talking about being 'that parent', are you serious? No teacher would mind this parent asking the question. They are 4 year olds!

Absolutely it's something every child gets and the teacher the finds something specific to praise the child about.

I'd mention it before the last few weeks though if it happens again so the teacher has a chance to do something about it!! A friend of mines daughter for missed off and the teacher assumed she'd done it earlier in the year!

They should all get a go at star of the week (and the teacher often is just working through them) so do mention it!!

Same with class bear etc.

Absolutely mention if your kid hasn't had a go!!

Please mention it. We do this in my school and I always worry that someone will get missed.
