Teachers - help me with gifts please!

I know you all say "words of thanks are appreciated" and the teacher and TA will get those, but theyve both taught dd continuously for three years.

I want to buy a gift. Not even really anything related to teaching or a Best Teacher mug. Or something for work. A genuine gift.

The teacher is always well dressed, wears pricey clothes, no kids of her own. TA has a couple of kids, is quite a down to earth mum type figure (always giving hugs where needed and getting down and dirty in the playdoh etc).

What would you suggest?

Should add dd is one of only two students theyve both had for three years straight so its not like everyone will give this much overthinking haha

If they drink, wine or fizz is well received (I am a drinking teacher!) voucher for afternoon tea or something nice to do locally? Depends on your budget though I suppose! I work at a private school and sometimes get amazing gifts (although not as much as you would think!) so something small and posh that I would never buy myself goes down well!

CoffeeAndCakeEssentials · 05/07/2017 21:22

An afternoon tea voucher always does down well (written by a teacher!) doesn't have to be anywhere fancy Smile

I would be happy to spend £20 each. Voucher for somewhere is a good idea.

I also really like this book I know the teacher likes a cocktail.

Something that says you know something about the person - a joke you've shared etc.

I'v always bought my teacher presents based on something they said they liked in a conversation, or something well known about their personality.

NapQueen · 05/07/2017 21:28

Its hard as I do barely any drop offs/pick ups due to work. So i know bits but 5yo dd isnt massively helpful Grin

Then I would buy Processco! Grin

Fancy stationery
Nice notepads
Nice academic diary 2017/18 diary
Costa/Starbucks voucher
Voucher for local beauty parlour/nail salon

I would love an Amazon voucher, I could then spend it on what I wanted from the comfort of my sofa! Also you are not limited by brands etc...

Many teachers will be going on holidays and so might like the option of downloading some fab books with it

NapQueen · 05/07/2017 21:45

Do teachers use them canvas tote type bags? Ive seen a couple of nice ones, thinking for chucking homework in or crafts supplies etc.

Yes - they are really useful! You can also get personalised ones too! Good idea!

NapQueen · 05/07/2017 21:47

Ah good. We have a little independent lrint shop near us which make quite funky stuff so I will see if they can make something.

One of my children gave me a set of books which she's reading and we'd spoken about. She knows I read older-children's books sometimes and can use them in my book corner next year.

Also got some lovely homemade fudge this year.

dementedpixie · 05/07/2017 22:20

I got ds's teacher a bottle of pinot grigio and some nice biscuits from aldi

SpaghettiMeatballs · 06/07/2017 18:27

We've got an afternoon tea for two voucher for a very nice cafe in our village.

RainbowsAndUnicorn · 06/07/2017 19:24

I'd go with Amazon voucher too or stationery/personalised stickers. Something they can easily use up.

Bags are good but teachers tend to have a million of them like mugs.

One year a group of parents, at a school I know, got together and instead of lots of flowers at the end of term, got flowers delivered on the first of the month for a year. She was delighted.

I have got my son's teacher a lush gift set and a box of chocolates.
