Finding out the result - primary appeal

I was just wondering how soon after an appeal do you find out if you have been successful? The reason I ask is because the school has a half day induction for pupils starting reception in September and the induction is 4 days after the appeal hearing. Would it be acceptable to request to find out the result in time for my child to attend the induction if we are successful?

The decision could be made on the day, but if there are several for the same school, the panel may make the decisions after hearing all cases. Sometimes that can be several days.

If there are only one or two appeals then the decision might be made the same day. Then a letter is sent out and you can assume that it will be sent 2nd class, so up to 5 working days. That is what happens in my county.

You could request that the letter is sent by email, but it is up to the panel to agree or refuse your request.

Any decision will be in writing because there have been mistakes made in the past when verbal decisions have been communicated to the wrong parents.
Usually in my area the clerk will complete the paperwork the day after the finish of the appeals and will normally communicate by email when there are issues such as the transition day you describe. Having said that some admission authorities only send out the decision letters by 2nd class letters.
Most schools will not allow anybody on the transition days until decisions have been made and communicated to all.

As above - my LEA will happily send emails as soon as a decision is made if there is time pressure or a good reason a parent needs to know asap. So no harm in asking.
