SATS

Last year the KS2 SATS were changed and were harder due to the new curriculum and the level of knowledge needed by the pupils. As a result many children didn't "pass" and this looked bad for the government. Do you think they will be slightly easier this year?

I am dreading SATs with my DD who has ASD as it is a distinct possibility that my DH will be having or recovering from major liver surgery 50 miles away at the same time

I feel terrible for child of "Campfiresmoke". Is it possible for a parent and child to simply refuse to sit the SATs? Presumably, they have a secondary school place guaranteed now and there can be no sanction for going on a SATS strike.....

It depends how much you support the school that they're in. If you withdraw the child, the school will get a score of 0 which will hurt their stats. If you used OFSTED to help you choose a school in the first place, OFSTED's verdict has a lot to do with data and stats. If the school has helped your child and it's not going to seriously impact on the child then I'd let them sit the test. If you hate the school, well then I'll let you make your own decision.
