What happens when a child doesn't do SATs in KS2?

Say they're ill or a family emergency crops up. What happens? Will they re-sit at some point or they just don't do them at all?

Thanks 😊

Relevant paragraph from the technical document to do with pruimary accountability measures:

"There are also a number of circumstances where a pupil’s results are not included in the progress measures, but are included in the attainment measure as ‘not meeting’ the expected standard.
These include:
•pupils who are working at the standard of the tests, but who have no test data in English reading or mathematics, for example, due to absences"

(Note that this refers to primary progress measures, based on progress between KS1 and KS2, not secondary progress measures such as progress8)

No, there is a period after why. End of sentence.
I said, " You have a reason why. "
But I stated that I thought your post was a drip feed in the brackets.

This discusses, on p19, calculation of progress8 if no KS2 data is avalable.

If your child has teacher assessments, these can be used instead of test data for Progress8 baseline.

If they have 1 subject test data, this will be used as the baseline 9which may be good or bad, depending on the spikiness of profile).

If they have neither, then their results are not included in progress8. In schools which are focused on data to the exclusion of all else, this may mean that, if your child is able, they will not necessarily be pushed quite as hard as they might be to squeeze the extra grade or so that the progress8 measure might need, as their results will already look 'fine' for attainment8. I don't know whether this would happen in practice.

Well I will take your word for it. So you stated rather than questioned. You were wrong either way and I corrected you. It's clear you found that difficult to take but that is your problem not mine. I won't reply to you again because it's pointless and tiresome to keep doing so. Do feel free to post again to have the last word though, it seems as though you really need it Wink

Thanks for giving me a last chance to comment.

1:Like I said, I am a foreigner, I stick to rules when posting. Period means the end of sentence. Question mark means question. And I used brackets in the same post for my thoughts twice.

2: I only responded because you said I called you a hypocrite, which I didn't. I was commenting generally, and only thing I tried to do was to explain that to you.

3: The comment about "second sentence" was genuine. I was only thinking it would have helped you. (Obviously not your intention, but how would I know?)

4: I really don't get why you need to respond to my post so aggressively.

5: Thank you for giving me a chance to say last words. Appreciate you wouldn't reply to me. Bye!

MsGameandWatch · 23/03/2017 17:03

I didn't not really understand why it would be hypocritical not to allow my child to sit them, what's hypocritical about it? Serious question?"

That's what I said, perfectly respectfully and a genuine question. Now who's not telling the truth?

I understand you're a foreigner but I think you've behaved in a sulky and aggressive fashion on my completely innocuous thread. You were wrong to say I was drip feeding and a gracious person would see that from my subsequent posts and apologise for getting it wrong as I did nothing of the sort. This has all come from that. I'm hiding this thread now as I am finding it difficult not to respond to your childish and erroneous posts.

Thanks to everyone else who responded, it was actually really helpful, especially the wider reading Smile

Sigh.
I already said I didn't say you are hypocritical....
I would have apologised and tried to explain to you if you mentioned my post was ambiguous, but you just kept telling me what I meant and twisting my post.
Hide away.
Thing is, I never meant nothing malicious against you, that's all, I have no reason to be.

user789653241 · 23/03/2017 18:11

To anybody who's reading this thread, do I come across that bad?
I truly never meant to be misunderstood like this.
I start to fear genuinely about my English ability now.
Everything I say doesn't seem to come across right.
What am I doing wrong?

Looks like a storm in a tea cup to me. Not sure why it blew up. Happens to the best of us on the odd thread, Irvine. It's hard not to cause offence when typing sometimes, even with the best of intentions (and English as a first language!) Chalk it up to one of those MN experiences Smile

user789653241 · 23/03/2017 18:20

Thank you, Feenie.

It's quite painful though. I never come on here to cause trouble.
