Irvine, might he like something like this?

Times table challenge activity sheet

I am sorry, you have to be a subscriber to download it, but the editability of it makes it easy to create lots of different versions along the same lines.

Thank you, cantkeepaway. That looks a lot more interesting than his homework! I wish his teacher think like you do. Even after he started to modify his homework, she keeps sending same one every week. Sad

The reason I linked to the one I did is because it contains 'time table linked' facts - like cubed and square numbers, and square roots, as well as being editable to include questions expressed as fractions - and so is suited to someone who an already recall all 'basic' times table facts at speed and maybe could experiment with their fluent recall in a slightly different format.

The free site offers all kinds of options I simply linked to one I've used in Y1

I use maths-aids a lot: unfortunately it doesn't include good 'mixed' options for times table and related fact testing. I agree it's brilliant for the 'routine' stuff - but as irvine is looking for 'the next step' for a child with already fluent recall, I was trying to suggest something with a bit of a twist.

I'm sure there are other free resources out there - tbh, we just make and tweak our own.

dadsworksheets are another source of 'here's another way to present the standard facts' worksheets - but again, finding one multiplying multiples of 0.1, 0.01, 10, 100, 1000s, questions presented as fractions, squares / square roots etc all presented as a mix is more challenging.

cantkeepaway, he actually loves powers, roots etc. He was trying to work out 2^9 while walking when he was in yr1. He has all the basic knowledge of fraction/decimals/ area/volume /time/ measurement whatever covered in ks2 since long time ago.
Problem is, our school is failing. Sats results last year was dire.(Bottom 10-20% nationally.)
All the experienced teacher has left. SLT changes every year.
So, no proper extension for able, they are barely trying to bring up the level of whole school. ( But, the teachers are young and willing, just not enough experience and capacity, imo.)
